Varsity Boys Win Legal Beagle (Jan. 10, 2010) |

The Sr Boys Basketball team closed out the Legal Beagle on the weekend, beating seventh ranked Burnaby South 91-63. Marek Klassen took a hard fall just before the half and left the game to get 10 stitches above his eye. Before he left, he had already scored 28 points. The rest of the team stepped up to close out the game. Marek was named tournament MVP while Matt Letkeman and Nakai Luyken were both awarded first team allstars.

Junior Teams Take Over First Place (Jan. 7, 2010) |

Both the boys and girls junior teams defeated Mouat on Wednesday to take over first place in the league. The girls won 42-21 behind solid defensive pressure and an entire team effort. The boys had a tight contest the whole way, but were able to hang on to a 61-58 win behind solid play from Sid Sidharth, Trevor Berge, Brodi de St. Remy, Landon Gartner and Kevin Yankov. |

The first time Yale Secondary senior girls volleyball coach Ali Tessarolo saw her star player in action, she couldn't help gushing a little. "I just thought, 'Wow, that girl can really hit it hard with her right hand,' " Tessarolo recalled of her 6-foot right side standout Rosie Schlagintweit. "Then she told me that she had a shoulder injury and that she actually hits with her left hand. I just said, 'Holy smokes, she can hit that hard with both hands?' " (READ MORE)

Yale Basketball Sweeps Weekend (Dec. 13, 2009) |

All four basketball teams were in tournament action this weekend. The junior boys and girls hosted their annual event and each came away with a tournament victory. The senior boys and girls were also in action at the first annual Abbotsford Police Tournament and both teams earned top spot, making it an all Lions sweep of the weekend. For the seniors Marek Klassen and Celeste Dyck were named tournament MVPs. Congratulations to the players and coaches.

Sr Girls Volleyball Finish 9th (Dec. 7, 2009) |

The Sr. Girls Volleyball team is back from Prince George where they competed in the Provincial Championships last week. The team went into the Tournament ranked 16th and ended up winning the consolation side and finished 9th. All the girls played excellent especially the grade 12's Nadine Moedt, Rachel Dyck, Corinna Santema, Celeste Dyck and it is no surprise that Rosie Schlagentweit was awarded first team all-star. Congrats and well done ladies!!!
