Sr Rugby Advance To Valley Final (May 19, 2010) |
|
The senior boys defeated Mouat 25-3 yesterday in the pouring rain to advance to the Valley final Thursday at 4:30. Yale's physical play wore down the Hawks who scored first, but never got close again. Try scorers were Joel Schmidt, Tyler Barons, Matt Bianchini and there was a group effort try when the Yale forwards drove a lineout 20 meters to the goal line and scored. Kris Baranowski added two kicks. Tomorrow's final against Earl Marriott marks the first time Yale's senior team has been to a Valley Championship game since 1988. The game is being played at Yale; come out and cheer the boys on to victory. |

Man of the Match went to Jimmy ‘Ichiro’ Ann for being a dominant rucker and tackler in the game. The team now moves on to play Bateman on Wednesday. |
