Yale Track Raises The Bar At Provincials (June 6, 2010)
Thirteen athletes from the Yale Track and Field team competed at the 44th Annual Track and Field Championships at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby over the last two days.   Without exception, all thirteen of them came up with their season and lifetime best performances, at the right time, when it counted, and at the most important meet of the year.   All any coach can ever ask for.  Highlights include Chantel Desch with a 6th place finish in the women's 400, running a personal best time of 58.12 seconds.   Spencer Loughlin also improved his time in the grade 8/9 category of the 200 meters, just squeaking into the final, only to beat three more competitors in the final to finish 5th in the province.  Mike Crivello, having only done track for the last 3 months, finished 8th in the men's100 meters, and 6th in the men's 200, also posting massive personal best performances in the process.  Mike also anchored the men's 4 x 100 relay team along with A.J. Griffiths-LeClair, Marc Forcier and Daniel Poleshuk to an 8th place finish.

Lions Lose To Vanier (June 4, 2010)
Another heartbreaker for the rugby boys as they dropped a consolation game to GP Vanier 10-7.  Vanier scored twice in the first half to go up 10-0 even though Yale had several good chances and continued to apply pressure.  The second half was scoreles until about 5 minutes left in the game, when the Lions scored their first try to close the gap 10-7.  Despite a great effort, they were unable to put any more points up and their comeback ran out of time.  The loss moves them to their final game of the BCs where they will play city rival, Bateman for 7th spot.  The game is 1:00 pm, this Saturday at Rotary Stadium.

Rugby Drop Quarter Finals (June 2, 2010)

The Sr Boys Rugby team lost a tough battle to #2 Carson Graham this afternoon in a torrential rain storm.  They went into the half with a 6-3 lead missing on a couple chances to extend the margin in the first half.  In the second half, Yale again carried the play, but was unable to put points on the board.  Eventually, Graham scored an unconverted try to go up 8-6.  Despite continuous pressure, the Lions couldn't score and eventually ran out of time.  Yale takes on GP Vanier tomorrow, 4:00 at Rotary Stadium as they battle to stay alive in the tournament.  The team still has a chance to finish 5th and could face cross-town rival, Bateman, in the consolation final Saturday afternoon.
